ORD Xplore

ORD-Xplore is a project that aims to support the Open Research Data (ORD) standards and FAIR principles for repositories of digital editions to better support accessibility and usability.

Digital editions are a valuable source of information on historical, literary or critical works. However, most digital editions vary in their data representations and standards. The lack of standardization among editions results in challenges to establish FAIR principles and hinders search, exploration, and finding connections across editions.

With ORD-Xplore, the goal is to investigate, explore, and evaluate a comprehensive corpus of 14 digital editions to derive requirements, guidelines, and methods to better support the standardization and unification of digital editions. We design and develop a web-based interactive visual data exploration prototype to allow experts to gain insights into the unifying characteristics and support the unification process. The 14 digital editions are provided by the Zentrum für Digitale Editionen (ZDE) at UZH, supported by the University Library and Zentralbibliothek Zürich.

Background
